Susannah A. Nesmith

Writer, Researcher, Web Consultant

For almost 20 years, Susannah Nesmith has written stories for newspapers, wire services and websites. She has covered war, rebellions, poverty, health care and disasters both natural and man-made. She spent 10 years covering crime and legal affairs.

Susannah started her career reporting and writing in Spanish for El Mercurio, Chile’s largest newspaper, and went on to work for the Palm Beach Post, the Associated Press and the Miami Herald. Susannah has lived and worked in Santiago, Chile; BrĨko, Bosnia; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Bogotá, Colombia. She has also reported from Haiti, Iraq, Turkey, and elsewhere around the world.

After expanding into multi-media storytelling, she left the Herald in 2009 to pursue a freelance career.

In addition to writing, Susannah brings visuals to her storytelling, using video and narrated slideshows.

She lives with her partner Chuck, two giant dogs and two neurotic cats in Miami’s Upper East Side. When she’s not sitting at her computer, she can probably be found tending her organic garden.
